WOMAN’S BODY FOUND IN SUITCASE IN MATHURA

AGRA: Mathura Police on Friday found the body of a woman stuffed inside a suitcase lying near the Yamuna Expressway, an officer said, adding that she had a bullet wound on her chest.

Mathura’s senior superinten­dent of police, Abhishek Yadav, said efforts were on to identify the woman, who appears to be in her 20s.

“The body was found wrapped in a polythene and inside a bag near the expressway,” said Yadav.

He added that there were injuries and bloodstain­s on the woman’s face.

“Forensic experts and a dog squad were called... and efforts are being made to identify the body,” he said.

Raya police station in-charge, Om Hari Vajpayee, said the matter had been recorded. “We have done the legal compliance required in such cases and the dead body has been sent for post-mortem” he said.

According to an officer privy to the matter, police also found a sacred black thread and a saree in the bag and a red sacred thread tied to one of the woman’s wrists.
