LeT module busted in Bandipora, 2 active terrorists among 4 held

The police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a LeT terror module in Bandipora district and arrested two active terrorists and two associates, including a woman.

The police said the arrest of module has averted planning of civilian killings. “In a major breakthrou­gh against terrorist infrastruc­ture in north Kashmir, police along with security forces busted LeT terrorist module by arresting two active LeT terrorists and their two associates, including a woman, in Bandipora. Incriminat­ing materials, huge cache of arms and ammunition and material for preparing IED has been recovered from their possession, thereby averting a major tragedy,” a police spokesman said.

He said that police along with the 13 Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF during a cordon and search operation launched at Gundbal Nursery arrested two active terrorists linked with proscribed terrorist outfit LeT who have been identified as Musaib Mir alias Moya of Rakh Hajin and Arafat Farooq Wagey alias Dr Adil, a resident of Gulshnabad, Hajin. “Incriminat­ing materials, arms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, one AK-56 riffle, four AK series magazines, live rounds, RDX powder, nails, ball bearings, batteries 9 volt, detonators, IED mechanism circuit, remote control, loose wire and iron pipes, have been recovered from their possession,” the spokesman said.

He said that the joint party also arrested their two terror associates identified as Imran Majeed Mir alias Jaffar of Wangipora Sumbal and Suraya Rashid Wani alias Senty alias Tabish of Wahab Parray Mohalla, Hajin, along with two hand grenades and other incriminat­ing materials. “Preliminar­y investigat­ion revealed that the busted terrorist module was being handled by LeT terrorist commander Samama alias Babar from the PoK. The module was directed to carry out substantia­l attacks on civilians and security forces to instil fear in the minds of the public. They were also tasked to carry out a powerful IED blast at any crowded public place to cause maximum civilian casualties,” the spokesman said. The ADGP, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar termed the busting of module a big success. “By busting the terror module, the forces averted a major tragedy by demolishin­g the terror infrastruc­ture of north Kashmir,” he added.
