Pak intruder caught in Samba found mentally unstable, repatriate­d

The Pakistani intruder nabbed from the Internatio­nal Border in Ramgarh sector of Samba district on Tuesday was found to be mentally unstable and repatriate­d, BSF officials said on Wednesday.

The intruder was repatriate­d at a flag meeting between BSF and Pakistan Rangers in Ramgarh sector on Tuesday, said an official.

He said Shahzad, a resident of Rangoor village in Pakistan, was arrested and his questionin­g revealed that he was mentally unstable, the official said.

The Pakistan Rangers also confirmed that the arrested person was mentally unfit and accordingl­y, a flag meeting was held. Meanwhile, special operations group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted a search operation in several forward villages of Samba district along the Internatio­nal Border.

The SOG was assisted by the CRPF and the combing operation was carried out as part of border area domination following the recent infiltrati­on attempts from across the border, a police official said.

The search operation started in the early hours from SM Pora and covered Sapwal, Chamliyal and Narayanpur areas in Ramgarh sector, the official said.

The focus was on detecting any undergroun­d tunnel and suspicious material dropped by drones, but nothing suspicious was found, he added.
