SIRSA COURT GIVES DEATH PENALTY TO MAN FOR RAPING MINOR DAUGHTER

CHANDIGARH: A fast-track special court in Sirsa on Thursday sentenced a man to death for raping his minor daughter.

Additional sessions judge Praveen Kumar awarded the capital punishment to the man under Section 6 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, said a Haryana police spokesperson.

The convict has also been sentenced to seven-year rigorous imprisonment along with fine of Rs 50,000 under section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

On September 28, 2020, the girl had accused her father of raping her. A case was registered at the Sirsa women police station. On September 29, 2020, the police arrested the accused and investigated the matter. The then in-charge of the Sirsa women police station, sub-inspector Sunita Rani, carried out the investigation and secured conviction of the offender, the spokesperson added.
