2 killed as car plunges into gorge in Mandi

SHIMLA: Two persons were killed while one sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in plunged into a gorge near Pangna of Karsog subdivisio­n in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, police said on Thursday.

According to informatio­n, the trio was travelling in a Maruti Alto car (HP-30-4383), which fell into a 500-metre-deep gorge on the Shana-Lachhadhar link road late on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Sant Ram, 38, of Chanhala village and Jayanti, 40, of Shana village. Injured Nand Lal of Karshal village was has been shifted to Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, where he is undergoing treatment.

Soon after receiving informatio­n, a police team was rushed to the spot, said Karsog DSP Geetanjali. “Two people succumbed to the injuries on their way to the hospital,” she said, adding that a case of rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence has been registered.

Road crash in Nadaun leaves one dead

One person was killed and two others were injured in a road accident near Nadaun town, Hamirpur police said on Thursday. The accident took place on Wednesday night when a scooter collided with a truck. While scooter driver Ajay Kumar was brought dead to a hospital, the injured were referred to the Tanda medical college and hospital in Kangra.
