18 injured as tourist bus overturns near Bilaspur, 1 booked
SHIMLA: At least 18 tourists were injured after the bus they were travelling in overturned near Bilaspur on the Chandigarh-Manali highway on Friday morning.
The bus was on its way to Chandigarh from Manali, the police said.
Two passengers referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh
The victims were rushed to the Bilaspur civil hospital where 13 got discharged after being given first aid while three were referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.
Two injured are undergoing treatment at the Bilaspur hospital.
There were at least 40 passengers in the bus.
The injured belong to Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Maharashtra’s Mumbai and Nashik besides Punjab’s Jalandhar.
Deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) Rajkumar said a case of rash and negligent driving and causing hurt by negligence has been registered against the driver.
The Bilaspur district administration has provided immediate financial assistance of ₹5,000 each to those who were seriously injured, and ₹2,000 to those who suffered minor injuries.
