UP FRAUDSTER WHO DUPED HAJ PILGRIMS OF ₹33 LAKH HELD AFTER 3 YEARS

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a UP-based fraudster, who had duped Haj pilgrims in Doda district of ₹33.5 lakhs after posing as a travel agent, said officials.

The fraudster was identified as Mohammad Mustafeez of Saharanpur in UP.

“He had been evading arrest for the past three years after cheated Haj pilgrims,” said a police officer.

He was booked under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code. A police team headed by deputy superinten­dent of police (headquarte­rs) Jaswant Singh arrested the fraudster on November 25.
