‘We thank UP govt for lifting tax from my film’
Actor Salman Khan (right) has thanked Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his government for making his latest offering, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, tax-free in the state.
The 49-year-old actor took to micro-blogging website Twitter to thank the Uttar Pradesh government.
“Bajrangi Bhaijaan is tax free in UP. We thank the Govt of Uttar Pradesh. @yadavakhilesh (sic),” he tweeted.
The film was made tax-free after the movie’s director Kabir Khan met the CM with the request. During the meeting, Yadav told Kabir that the state offers immense possibilities for film production, owing to which the state government has unveiled an attractive and convenient film policy that has attracted many a filmmaker into shoot- ing in the state.
The state has made many films tax-free in the past — Tevar, Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho, Hamari Adhuri Kahani and the recently-released Masaan.
