Although he is very strict about the kind of roles he takes up, actor Ali Fazal (above) says that like all actors, he, too, has taken up work in the past which he did not believe in. The 29-yearold adds that as actors, they need to come to terms with rejections being a part and parcel of their careers.

“I think we face the maximum rejections. As actors, we all go through that phase of taking up the kind of work you don’t want to do, but take it up only to please others,” he says.

Ali, who has been seen in films such as Fukrey (2013) and Bobby Jasoos (2014), says that he has always consciously tried to pick up newer characters to play. “Nothing happens naturally, it is just that I use my brains and select something new to play every time,” he says.

The actor, who has recently shot for a web series, says that the online medium is really picking up, but cannot replace TV or films.

“It’s coming up in a big way and is an explosion ready to happen. But I feel that TV still would be the go-to place for people. And TV or online cannot replace celluloid,” he says.

Talking about the web series, Ali says that the fact that it was shot like a film is what got him on board. “We finished shooting it in 12 days and it will be shown in five parts,” he says.
