Bengaluru-based musician Aisha Ali Chopra is ecstatic about her debut single, Hasratein, which was released last month. “I was apprehensive about how it was going to turn out. But I must say, I am surprised at the responses, which have been quite good. A lot of people are coming forward to appreciate the global yet Indian appeal of the track and the video,” she says.

Hasratein, Aisha says, explores the ‘love-hate’ relationship between two lovers.

“I always wanted to write a song about a distraught relationship between a man and a woman rather than a romantic number filled with the ‘candy-floss’ chemistry that we usually see. So I thought of writing about a love-hate kind of a thing, where they (the lovers) cannot live without each other but are not good for one another at the same time. I wrote this song because I am touched by such relationships, and I feel that there should be a voice, the voice of the sufferer, coming into focus,” she says.

Its video, which was uploaded on YouTube, a week after the single’s launch, has crossed over 30,000 hits. The 27-year-old is quite happy.

“I have a background in contemporary dance and I used it along with aspects of physical theatre to express a relationship rather than making a regular storylinebased video. I wanted to depict certain themes through dance, and leave certain aspects open to interpretation,” she says.

The song is a part of her debut album, Naaz, which Aisha plans to release by November. ountry singer Jason Aldean announced that he would be cancelling his weekend shows after shooting at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival in Las Vegas.

He was performing on stage when the shooting occurred killing at least 59 people. Over 500 concertgoers were injured. “I feel like out of respect for the victims, their families and our fans, it is the right thing to do. It has been an emotional time for everyone involved this week, so we plan to take some time to mourn the ones we have lost and be close with our family and friends,” Aldean posted on his website and Twitter.

He also gave a shout out his friends and fans for their support. “I want to say thank you for the outpouring of love from my friends and fans we have received over the last couple days. You guys have no idea how much you have helped us get through this tough time.”
