This is going to be an exciting year: Ashwini

- Anjali Shetty

Best known for her portrayal of Kamala in the TV show by the same name, Ashwini Kasar turned a year older on December 18. The actor celebrated her birthday at home after a gap of five years. “I got to know a day prior that I have an off on December 18. So, I decided to come back home to Mumbai. Little did I know that my family had planned a surprise for me. I cut three cakes, my mom prepared an elaborate typical Maharashtrian lunch, and my brother surprised me with a beautiful sketch and a poem,” she says.

The actor adds that because of her hectic shooting schedules, for the past few years she had been spending her birthdays on set. “I had forgotten what it was like to celebrate with family and friends. This birthday was an emotional one, and I wish I could spend many more such days at home.”

Ashwini also received a video message from her favourite star Subodh Bhave and she says it was the best end to her special day. In 2018, Ashwini is looking forward to three special projects, one of which is a television serial and the other two are films. “I have begun shooting for the film, which is based on the Malin village landslide tragedy. It shows the story of two survivors who lost their village, family and relatives in the untoward incident. It is a survival story with a strong emotional character sketch. The second film is Respect by Kishor Bedekar.”
