Remember the star-studded Dream Tour of 2016, featuring names such as Varun Dhawan, Katrina Kaif, Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapur and Karan Johar, among others? After that tour, Alia and Parineeti went on the record, more than once, to say how Katrina was extremely particular about fitness and that they would love to acquire a body like hers. Smiling at the recollection of what her Bollywood peers said, Katrina states, “I feel when it comes to my gym routines or sheer fitness, it’s all got to do with a certain amount of discipline. It’s not just about how you look physically. Like every woman, we all have days when we like our bodies, and days when we don’t. All of us have our body issues, so there are good days, bad days.” “Ultimately,” she says, “everything boils down to discipline. It includes my gym routines, such as Pilates, functional training, yoga, cardio, dance or fitness training for Tiger Zinda Hai. I think it’s also good for my mind to be a little disciplined and to teach the body that a little bit of selfrestraint is good. So, it’s like a routine, but also a big stress buster.”

Katrina likes “being in the gym”. She says, “It’s where I feel good, as exercise helps release endorphins, so you feel nice and happy. I’ve accepted that going to the gym is good for me. So, I want to have a physically active and strong body, but feel better as well.”

However, the actor adds that the path to well-being needn’t be the same for everyone. “When it comes to fitness, you must do whatever makes you feel happy and best about yourself,” she says.

In her latest blockbuster, Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), Katrina worked again with her friend, director Ali Abbas Zafar. “Ali has grown a lot, as a person and a director, but I didn’t see that process. So when we started work on Tiger Zinda Hai, in the beginning, I felt that things were a little different,” she says. “I saw him last on a film set during Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011). But in between, he made Gunday (2014) and Sultan (2016). Initially, I felt that he wasn’t the same person I knew, so it was hard on me (laughs). Then, I realised that he was exactly the same person, but had grown a lot as a director.”
