I do miss acting, says Sanaya

Iam quite excited to explore the web space right now,” says Sanaya Irani, who is shooting for a web series and recently even worked in a short film. The actor hasn’t appeared in a TV serial since the show Rangrasiya ended in 2014, and was last seen in the dance reality show, Nach Baliye 8, in 2017. Ask her if she is keen to act on the small screen again, and she says, “I think TV content is on a loop — the stories we saw eight years ago are being revisited and I don’t want to be part of such shows. I don’t watch TV anymore, and whenever I surf a bit, I see the same old stuff. Every other show looks the same. I remember I started doing TV with youthcentric shows like Miley Jab Hum Tum. I have been very lucky in my career to get good opportunities. I have never done a show in my life just for the sake of a job.”

Sanaya was in talks for a TV show over a year ago and had shot the pilot too, but the show was shelved and never saw the light of day. Understandably, the actor says she was quite disappointed with the outcome. “I really believed in the story and the show, but it didn’t take off. I thought it would be great to be part of a show like that, and if I see a show like that on TV now, I would watch it. I do miss acting, but I would never do a show just to earn money and essentially be unhappy. Today, when I look at TV, I don’t see any show that makes me feel I wish I was a part of it,” she says.

However, the actor sees a lot of potential in digital media. She says, “There are many online streaming platforms that air shows I wish I could do (laughs). Digital content is what every actor wants to be part of, as it has a lot of good content right now. Having said that, there are some amazing concepts that do come up on TV every now and then, and I would be happy to be a part of them. But I want to explore something really different from what I have done in the past. You never know, I might get a good show tomorrow and you would see me on TV soon.”
