Shruti never took her lineage as a matter for pressure

Actor Shruti Haasan enjoys popularity and has her own fan following in the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu film industries. However, the tag of being the daughter of superstar Kamal Haasan and Sarika is something that she just can’t do away with. In a candid conversation, Shruti talks about growing up as a star kid, marriage with beau Michael Corsale and sister Akshara Haasan’s picture leak case:

All this while, how have you handled the pressure of being the child of famous parents?

I’m very proud of my lineage. I’m happy to discuss them. I never took it as a pressure because my parents never gave me that feeling. They were very clear that whatever you do, do for yourself and do it well. Beyond that you will not be answerable to anyone. Do your work, get your paycheck and that’s it. I have had that approach through and through.

What about comparisons with your father?

You can’t compare my work with his work because it was another generation and cinema was different. They had different chance and a lot of fluidity as well during their era.

Your sister Akshara was recently in the news when her private pictures got leaked. Any development on that?

I don’t want to discuss it because it is being investigated by the police. Like you and me, a lot of women support her.

You’ve been in a steady relationship with Michael Corsale. Is marriage on the cards anytime soon?

I have no idea. I am not hiding it or anything but I am really not doing it right now. When I am ready, I will tell everyone.
