In the past few years, Sonakshi Sinha has done films such as Akira (2016) and Noor (2017), in which she played the central character as opposed to most films in Bollywood which usually have stories woven around the male characters. However, Sonakshi is also one of the few heroines who’ve had the opportunity to work with most established stars.

Be it Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn or Akshay Kumar, she has shared the frame with most of them, right in the beginning of her career. But, Sonakshi has not been able to act alongside her biggest crush — Hrithik Roshan — yet. She has often mentioned that she’s had a “huge crush” on the actor ever since she saw his debut film, Kaho Naa Pyar Hai (2000). “He is such a fine actor and a warm person. I would love to work with him. I think an action film, or even a dance film with him would be fantastic,” says Sonakshi.

The actor has four film releases this year, all of which will showcase her in completely different avatars. Talking about her upcoming line up, she says that she is more “excited” than nervous. “They are all very special films and are very exciting roles for me. Also, being so different from each other, they’ve kept me on my toes as an actor. Kalank is a period drama, Mission Mangal is a true story based on the Indian Mars mission, in Dabangg 3 I become Rajjo again, and an untitled comedy with a message. They are all drastically different from each other,” says Sonakshi. Currently, she is shooting for an untitled slice-of-life entertainer.

The actor, who is shooting in Amritsar (Punjab) for the untitled comedy, has played many comic characters in films such as Rowdy Rathore (2010), Son Of Sardar (2012) and Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi (2018). Talking about revisiting the genre, she adds, “Everything about this script was appealing. Right from the way it’s written, the world that it portrays, all the characters in the film and most importantly the subject. It’s not just a comedy; it talks about a very relevant topic in today’s day and age, and presents it in the best way possible, humorously. Now, it’s really the best time to take risks. I am focusing on doing great roles.”
