She’s been rapidly climbing the success ladders of Bollywood and right now actor Kiara Advani is in an enviable position with a kitty full of big movie projects. The actor will make a special appearance in Kalank and play one of the leading roles in Good News, which also stars Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan. That’s not all, she has also been reportedly roped in to play the lead opposite actor Sidharth Malhotra in Kargil martyr and Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra’s biopic.

The common link between all these films is filmmaker Karan Johar. Ask about her equation with the filmmaker, and she says, “Karan is one of the most approachable people. He makes you very comfortable and is someone who I had the good fortune of working with. He directed me in Lust Stories; he’s the most incredible director, and is amazing with his actors. I have learnt a lot from him and honed my craft. I will always cherish that. He loves his actors, and everyone knows that Karan is the most enthusiastic and amazing personality to be around, he’s a great multitasker.”

Kiara started her Bollywood career with Fugly (2014), which didn’t do any wonders for her career, but MS Dhoni - The Untold Story (2016) changed things for her. Is she only focusing on big-budget films now with A-listers? “These are the films that came my way. I don’t think it was a conscious decision, but definitely something which I was hoping for. I was extremely excited to take them up, I loved the characters,” says Kiara, who will also be seen in the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy with actor Shahid Kapoor.

“They (co-stars) are all talented superstars. It’s a new experience on set as an actor. You are only as good as your costars. I am fresh and I wanted to learn from them. It’s exciting to discover something with these genuinely talented actors. Arjun Reddy is a big blockbuster that won the National Award. The same director is remaking it in Hindi, and I have done a song before with Shahid (Urvashi). The most difficult scene was the climax,” says Kiara.
