Have a better understanding of Bollywood now: Sonal Chauhan

Hindustan Times (Patna) - Live - - FRONT PAGE - Rishabh Suri

Actor Sonal Chauhan shot to fame with her very first film, Jannat (2008), opposite actor Emraan Hashmi, but she slowed down on the number of films after that. While she did a role in last year’s war-drama Paltan, Sonal admits that she didn’t understand the ways of Bollywood after Jannat. Sonal says, “I didn’t come from a film background. I didn’t have someone to guide me. I finished my studies, and when I came back, I did a film with Amitabh Bachchan called Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap (2011). Then I did films down South, some big films in the Telugu film industry. For a few years, I was busy with that. That’s when maturity started prevailing, and I realised I needed to be in Mumbai for network and for people to know I am around. Or people would think ‘she has gone back’.”

Sonal is busy with a Hindi and a web project. “I can say I have a slightly better understanding now but I wouldn’t go as far as saying I understand it now,” says Sonal, on whether she understands the ways of Bollywood now.

Asked what challenges she faced till now, without going into the specifics, she shares, “There’s no challenge as such in only the film industry, overall in life too, everybody has some challenge.”
