International recognition for Kher
Anupam Kher recently won an award in the category Outstanding Cast for his role in the show, New Amsterdam. On receiving his first accolade for the show, Kher says, “It’s a huge honour. New Amsterdam has been a wonderful journey and I’m grateful to the brilliant cast and crew members for supporting me throughout. I share a great camaraderie with all of them. On the auspicious occasion of my father’s (Pushkarnath Kher) seventh death anniversary, I received the award and I dedicate this award to him. He was my best friend and my biggest fan.”
Ask him if awards matter to him in this stage of his career, and the veteran actor says, “It is indeed a validation of work that you do on the screen, which has been appreciated by so many people. This honour gives me a further sense of responsibility towards my country. A lower middle class Kashmiri boy from Shimla has come a long way. With every award and recognition, comes a sense of responsibility which I promise to be committed to.”
