After the intriguing trailer that got people talking, the makers of Badla are all set to release the first track from the film, Kyu Rabba, from the Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, today.

While Amaal Mallik has composed the music for the track, his brother, Armaan Malik, has given the vocals for the song that speaks about a broken heart.

“Our industry holds a musical perception about each emotion that we may depict in our narrative. As music composers, our job is either to cater to that particular need or give it a contrast that grows on the audience in a way that it begins to sound more universal than just obvious,” says Amaal, adding, “For me, Kyu Rabba falls in the latter category. It essentially speaks about a broken heart, but I have still tried to add finesse to it, instead of letting it sag into a depressive undertone of sorts.”

The 27-year-old singercomposer says that the tune of the song struck him randomly as his mind kept going over the narrative of the film. He shares that he had his mind fixed on the kind of sound and melody he wanted to create.

“This song and film have many firsts. It’s my first film with (director) Sujoy Ghosh, first with Shah Rukh Khan’s production house, and also the first with Taapsee Pannu. It’s such an honour to be one of the youngest composers to compose for an Amitabh Bachchan film,” he gushes.

Taapsee, who is reuniting with Bachchan after the 2016 film Pink, says that this has to be one of the most melodious songs she has ever heard.

“This song is my personal favourite from the film’s album. Kyu Rabba beautifully captures an important narrative in the film and I hope that the audience likes the melody as much as I do,” she says.
