Not often do you see a government organisation get inspired by a song to make a spoof. But Apna Time Ayega, a rap from actor Ranveer Singh’s latest release, has moved quite a few.

So, Western Railways has come up with a video on Twitter which goes, ‘Jaha tak tera ticket hai, tu vahi tak jayega...bina ticket aaya hai, tu pakda jarur jayega ...tera time aayega...’ And the internet is loving the catchy lyrics with a message.

Ever since Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Railways and Coal, shared the video on Twitter on February 18, it garnered over 18,000 likes and more than 5,000 retweets on Twitter alone. “Many used the song to emphasise their policies and ideologies, but this is the best so far. The Railways has taken the humour a notch higher with this,” says Rikku Chaudhary, a Delhiite who retweeted the video.

What’s more, various state police departments are singing the tune. A tweet by Nagpur Police reads: “When you are frustrated with the long countdown at the Traffic Signal...Just say to yourself...Apna Time Aayega...#PatienceMyBoy.”

The tweet by Assam Police held out a slightly more serious message. It reads: “Jab Jab gullible boy internet par scam kiya jayega, apna time aayega”.

But it isn’t only Railways and the cops who are using the song to drive home muchneeded messages. Its spoofs are doing the rounds of college circles too. For instance, students of the Capital’s Lady Shri Ram College for Women made a video for their recently concluded fest, Tarang, with the song. It went like, ‘Tu ek pass hi toh laaya hai, tu ghanta teen ghusayega...’

“We got over 20,000 views on Instagram and Facebook combined. And the overall response was pretty incredible! We played the song during the fest as well, before the pronights began, to just get everybody into the groove,” says Sreelakshmi, a student.
