Maneck has met all my exes and he likes them: Pooja Bedi
For actor Pooja Bedi, Valentine’s month couldn’t have been more special. On February 14, she took to Twitter to announce the news of her engagement with businessman Maneck Contractor.
The two have known each other from childhood, as they attended the same school. They reconnected two years ago during the launch of Maneck’s restaurant in Goa. In a freewheeling chat, Pooja talks about how their love blossomed and their marriage plans. Excerpts:
How was the moment when Maneck proposed to you?
It was utterly magical. We were 100 feet up in a hot air balloon. My heart was thumping looking down and there came this ring. He said the most beautiful words and I said ‘yes’.
Tell us how your love story with Maneck unfolded.
When we reunited, we spent quality time chatting about old times. The turning point in our relationship was when he took me to Badem Hill (in Goa) to watch a meteor shower at night. And just lying there on the desolate hill top for hours, making wishes, it was so romantic.
When did you realise that he’s the special one?
Having been in multiple relationships, one thing you learn is what you don’t want in a relationship. Maneck’s a gentleman and a very fun person. He and his family are so warm, welcoming, and cheerful. And my children just adore him.
Does your stardom bother him?
Maneck is not one to easily get affected by my success and popularity. He and I just let each other be.
The fact that you’re good friends with all your exes, does it make him insecure?
Not at all! In fact, Maneck has met all my exes and he likes them. Jealousy comes from insecurity and the lack of trust. I remember once at a party, there were men swarming around me. I looked at Maneck and asked, ‘Does it bother you that I get so much male attention’? He smiled and said, ‘It’s the nicest feeling in the world to know so many people want you, but you want me.’
So, is marriage on the cards anytime soon?
I presume towards the end of this year. We’d have to consider a lot of things, including the fact that my son (Omar Ebrahim, 18) is studying in the US and we probably have to time it with his holidays.
