Patralekhaa plans to socialise more in order to get more work
Her career did not take off the way she would have liked but Patralekhaa is now ready to take things on the fast lane. The actor says she has realised how important it is to be visible in order for filmmakers to cast her in their projects. “Initially, I would dismiss the idea of looking for work. After my first film, (CityLights, 2014), I was like now that people know [my work], they will come to me [approach me for more work]. But things don’t work like that. You have to be out there [be visible/ available]. There are so many actors in the industry that not everyone will remember you,” shares Patralekhaa. The actor, who is currently seen in a web series where she’s playing a surrogate mother, further explains, “The other day I was talking to a female producer who knows me and she said ‘How come I didn’t think of you [for a role]?’. You have to be out there [vis-à-vis socialising] in order to be on top of their minds. It’s not that you are not good enough. But you have to be visible to them. That’s what I have been learning since the last year. I am going out more and trying to get work for myself.”
Following her debut, Patralekhaa has only starred in two other films — Love Games (2016) and Nanu Ki Jaanu (2018) — both of which were box office non-performers.
The actor says she “does not want to dwell in the past”. “I am not going to look back...I want to focus on what is going to happen in the next 20 years,” she shares and adds that she has a long way to go, so she can’t be written off just yet. “I am assuming that I am going to be here for a long time. I am aware that success hasn’t come to me yet, and it has been five years since I made my debut. But I just feel that I am more comfortable right now. I have found my way and this is just the beginning,” Patralekhaa concludes.
