After a very ugly end to her marriage to Shaleen Bhanot in 2006, Dalljiet Kaur is now “ready to mingle”. And in order to look for a suitable match, her parents have opted for the “route of an arranged marriage”. The actor says she’s in “a very happy

phase, feels mentally stable and is ready to move on.”

“I’m back to being that happy person I used to be, and my son Jaydon, 6, and I are ready to welcome that special person in our life,” she says, adding, “When you have that one special person to go back to at the end of the day, it feels great. I miss that since I’ve been alone for many years now.” When asked what her expectations are from her life partner, Dalljiet says, “I expect honesty and respect. Though it sounds very basic, for me it means a lot and I don’t expect beyond that. I’m a very capable woman. I want someone who can respect me, my family, my choices and individuality and not look at me as a celebrity.”

Talking about her celebrity status being a roadblock for her, she says, “I met somebody who told people that we’re engaged. I had met him only thrice in my life. People try to show off that they met a celeb. I got scared after the episode and made it a point that I’ll only tell them about my profession when I meet them,” she says.

The 36-year-old says that the prospective matches and their families do get influenced by her celebrity status but she is more than just an actor. “I’m a very creative person and a beautiful homemaker. This is one hell lot of journey but I’m excited to go through this. I hope the person who comes to me now don’t take advantage of my image,” Dalljiet says.
