‘My sister Sushmita is most excited for my wedding’

You don’t really take a ‘plunge’ when it comes to a decision on marriage,” says Rajeev Sen, brother of actor Sushmita Sen, who is all set to get hitched to television actor Charu Asopa on June 7. Sushmita was first to break the news on her Instagram account on May 4, with a picture of the beaming couple.

The duo will have a court marriage first. Then, Charu says, “We will have a destination wedding in Goa on June 16. The theme of the wedding is ‘Royal traditional’ so everything will be in that style. The engagement will be on the 14th, followed by sangeet and mehendi on 15th and the haldi and the wedding on 16th. We are getting married in both Bengali and Rajasthani style as Rajeev is a Bengali and I’m a Rajasthani.”

Ask Rajeev why he shuns the limelight, the businessman says, “I’ve always been a very private person, but having said that I’ve had my own share of limelight.”

They met through a common

friend, Charu tells us. What made them rush into marriage? “I was very sure this is the right time, my heart and mind were fully ready for it... she is the best thing that happened to me,” Rajeev says.

There were rumours that Sushmita wasn’t happy with their relationship. However, her Instagram post put it all to rest. Rajeev says, “Rumours will always be rumours. We sweetly ignored it with a smile. My sister is extremely fond of Charu, I couldn’t be happier! She is the most excited for my wedding with Charu and has been working hard day and night to make things happen, as we don’t have much time at all. June 16 can only happen because of my sister, mom and dad. It’s never easy to do things at the last minute. I’m blessed,” he adds.

Charu too shares a warm equation with Sushmita. “She is a beautiful person. Jitni khoobsurat woh baahar se hain, uss se kahin zyada woh ek khoobsurat insaan hai. I feel very lucky and blessed to have her as my sister-in-law,” she adds.
