Here’s why Shraddha was upset with Varun and Remo

After their first dance film ABCD 2 back in 2015, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor reunite for Street Dancer 3D. But Shraddha was not the first choice for the film. Earlier, actor Katrina Kaif was to do the Remo D’Souza directorial, but she left the project. Varun revealed that Shraddha was always keen on being a part of the film and was upset that she wasn’t offered the film first.

“Shraddha and I had gone somewhere and she told me ‘I was very upset with Remo and you because you all did not offer me this film.’ The script was something else then, which is why sir didn’t think about it. She genuinely was emotional about this. I think it’s destiny,” Varun said.

Remo said Katrina left the project due to scheduling issues with Bharat. “We keep thanking Shraddha and say that she saved us. But at one point, we did think ‘now what to do’. It wasn’t that she (Katrina) backed out. She had date issues, she had to shoot for Bharat, so she couldn’t shoot with us. We were a bit tensed then,” he added.

Talking about Street Dancer 3D, which highlights India-Pakistan issues through the scope of dance and music, Varun said, “When this film was offered to me, Remo and Tushar (Hiranandani, screenwriter) made me watch a documentary on Khalsa Aid, which provides food and shelter to people without caste, colour or creed biases. So, I would definitely say our film is (made) out of peace and humanity. We have people from all religions belonging to India, Nepal and Morocco coming together to work. Dance can also be used for peace.”
