‘Films I lost out on eventually flopped’
Beauty pageant winner and actor Urvashi Rautela says she has no qualms about losing out on big films to people who come from a filmi background. “I’ve lost films to star kids a lot of times, but I don’t have any complaints. I’m an outsider and I can’t do anything about that. I’ve become practical about it,” she reveals.
Urvashi says she has also lost a couple of films because she was “too beautiful” for the roles she was considered for. “Filmmakers wanted average looking girls. I’m sure it must’ve happened with other female actors as well. Sometimes, your positives can be a vice,” she opines.
The Pagalpanti actor goes on to say, “The industry is unpredictable, so you should be ready for the worst. Now, I believe that if I lose out on a film, it’s their loss. You can’t be bogged down by rejection. You have to be extremely strong. If you lose an opportunity, there’s always another door open for you. The films that I lost out on eventually flopped.”
The Sanam Re (2016) actor is an optimist and says that nothing can deter her spirits. “I feel I’ve been handpicked by God. There were so many people who wanted to be in showbiz, but I’m fortunate to be here. I’m an international beauty queen. I am the youngest most followed Asian actor on Instagram and Facebook, and I’m loved by millions of people,” she says with a smile.
Urvashi, who has mostly played glamorous roles, says her talent hasn’t been tapped to its full potential. She says, “I’m happy but not satisfied. I can do a lot more. I hope there’ll be a when directors will see me as a complete actor. Glamorous roles are fine, but I want to be part of some acting-oriented films in a de-glam avatar. I don’t want to be a star; I want to be a good blend between a star and an actor.”
