The third day of the 75th Cannes Film Festival saw the unveiling of filmmaker Shyam Benegal’s Mujib - The Making Of A Nation’s trailer in the presence of India’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and Bangladesh’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud. The 90-second trailer was launched at the India Pavilion.

Another highlight was the world premiere of actor R Madhavan’s film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which is based on the life of rocket scientist Nambi Narayanan. The actor was present with the project’s entire team for the premiere.

Besides ruling the content space, India also scored well on the glamour front. Bollywood divas Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked dreamy in red and pink, respectively, as they arrived for a screening of the American drama, Armageddon Time.

Padukone wore a bright crimson silk gown with a plunging neckline by Louis Vuitton. She also wore a diamond necklace and tied her hair in a sleek ponytail.

Bachchan, on the other hand, chose a mermaid-style silhouette for her pink outfit by designer Gaurav Gupta. The enormous shell-shaped structure that hung behind her shoulders grabbed eyeballs.

Recently, actor Sangita Ghosh clapped back at actor Kamya Shalabh Dang for her comment on Ghosh’s viral Swaran Ghar dupatta scene (where she’s seen getting choked when her dupatta gets stuck in a fan), saying Dang is questioning the standing of TV. Dang had tweeted, “This is precisely why despite having some brilliant actors TV content is looked down upon, compared to films and web.” To this, Ghosh, 45, responded, “The one who works for TV, considers TV less than OTT and films, what should I say?”

Talking to us, Dang, 42, says, “Who is saying TV is small? But look at the content being shown on TV. I am not degrading any actor or television, but just stating the fact that it is because of such content that people working in films and OTT don’t want to hire TV actors.” She adds, “Sangita needs some classes to understand what I wrote. Mazak toh unka duniya uda rahi hai. In fact, she is the one who left TV to do films.”

Dang says she has always been careful about her scenes. “In my entire career, I’ve never done such a scene. Whenever I felt something was missing, I’d discuss it with the team, because I’ll be the one seen on screen. I have the responsibility to not degrade the value of TV,” she ends.

After a courtship of 12 years, actor Payal Rohatgi and wrestler Sangram Singh are finally set to tie the knot. We have exclusively learnt that the couple will have a simple wedding on Singh’s birthday, July 21. They are done with the pre-wedding shoot and will start shopping for the big day soon. Their wedding outfits will be styled by a Delhi-based brand, Study by Janak.

While Rohatgi maintained an “I cannot confirm or deny anything” stance, Singh, on the other hand, confirmed the news, saying, “I am extremely happy. We have been with each other for 12 years and it’s time to get married. Even our parents have wanted us to get married for a long time. I don’t think I can find a better girl than Payal. She is extremely genuine.”

He says that it will be a “simple wedding on my birthday”. Singh adds, “I believe marriage is just a thappa (stamp) that is needed for society, but I think it is important, especially for a girl’s respect. We will have a temple wedding with all the rituals as per the Arya Samaj. The wedding will take place either in Gujarat or Haryana. We will have haldi and mehendi ceremonies, too,” he says.
