ARA DOCS STOP WORK TO PROTEST ASSAULT
ARA: All the out patient departments (OPDs) at different health centres in the district remained closed on Saturday to protest the alleged heckling of doctors at Sandesh referral hospital on Friday after the death of a woman on Friday. An emergency meeting was also held by the local wing of the Bihar State Health Service Association at sadar hospital to discuss further measures to be taken by the doctors.
Condemning the attack by locals, the doctors had decided to stop medical services at the hospital till adequate security, preferably by Bihar Military Police (BMP) personnel or armed retired army men, were put in place at the hospital. They also demanded that such security arrangements should be done at all the health centres and hospitals of the district.
The protesting doctors said that until proper security arrangements were provided at Sandesh referral hospital, they would continue to work from the sadar hospital situated at the district headquarters.
They demanded that action must be taken against the guilty persons involved in attacking doctors on Friday under the Doctors’ Protection Act.
