SINHESHWAR FES­TI­VAL ON MAHASHIVRATRI, SAYS NI­TISH

PATNA: Chief min­is­ter Ni­tish Ku­mar on Satur­day an­nounced that Sinheshwar fes­ti­val would be held ev­ery year at Sin­hesh­warsthan tem­ple in Mad­hep­ura on the oc­ca­sion of Mahashivratri. The tourism depart­ment will or­gan­ise the event at the tem­ple, be­lieved to be the site where saint Shringi had per­formed a Ya­jna for king Dashrath in the Ra­mayan age and had wor­shipped Lord Shiva.

Dur­ing his visit to the tem­ple this morn­ing, the CM in­spected the on­go­ing ren­o­va­tion works and of­fered prayers to Lord Shiva. He also vis­ited the Shiv Ganga pond nearby, which is said to be one among the seven Hawan Kun­das cre­ated dur­ing the Ya­jna. Ku­mar di­rected tourism sec­re­tary S Sid­dharth to pre­pare a plan for the ren­o­va­tion and beau­ti­fi­ca­tion work. Oth­ers present in­cluded wa­ter re­sources min­is­ter Vi­jay Ku­mar Choud­hary, en­ergy min­is­ter Bi­jen­dra Prasad Ya­dav, for­mer MLC San­jay Jha, An­jani Ku­mar Singh and Atish Chan­dra.
