SINHESHWAR FESTIVAL ON MAHASHIVRATRI, SAYS NITISH
PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced that Sinheshwar festival would be held every year at Sinheshwarsthan temple in Madhepura on the occasion of Mahashivratri. The tourism department will organise the event at the temple, believed to be the site where saint Shringi had performed a Yajna for king Dashrath in the Ramayan age and had worshipped Lord Shiva.
During his visit to the temple this morning, the CM inspected the ongoing renovation works and offered prayers to Lord Shiva. He also visited the Shiv Ganga pond nearby, which is said to be one among the seven Hawan Kundas created during the Yajna. Kumar directed tourism secretary S Siddharth to prepare a plan for the renovation and beautification work. Others present included water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, former MLC Sanjay Jha, Anjani Kumar Singh and Atish Chandra.
