Neelu is excited about her femalefronted Punjabi film
Actor Neelu Kohli’s excitement knows no bounds as her new Punjabi film, Kitty Party, is a female-fronted movie that narrates the journey of four women. According to the actor, the industry mostly churns out films that have men in the forefront, so in a way, her film highlights the changing scenario.
“Punjabi films always see male actors in the forefront and in the male-dominated industry, women end up being just a small part. But Kitty Party is different in the way it is about four women. It’s a female-fronted film that we are hoping would open doors for more such movies,” says Neelu, who will be seen in both Indian and western avatars in the film, which also stars Upasana Singh, Anita Devgan, and Gurpreet Ghuggi.
Neelu, who was last seen in Manmarziyaan, and TV show Naamkarann, is not taking any long-term projects. The actor shares that her daughter, Sahiba Kohli, is getting married in February. So as soon as she finishes shooting for Kitty Party, she will start preparing for the wedding ceremonies.
“I would take a break because that much time would be required for my daughter’s marriage. Soon after, I might take up film, TV and web show offers. This time, I have decided to take up characters that are substantial. I have no qualms in playing a negative character as long as it adds to the plot. It’s time that I take up more challenging roles,” adds Neelu.
