BHU convocation: J’khand girl bags three gold medals
DHANBAD: Monica Goyal, a resident of Housing Colony in Dhanbad who completed her post graduation in economics from Banaras Hindu University this year, is on top of the world right now. For, the topper of the class has been felicitated with three gold medals during the 96th convocation ceremony of the university that concluded in Varanasi.
According to Monica, she was felicitated with the BHU gold medal, Wagle gold medal for being the topper in the class and Mrs Lajja Malhotra Memorial gold medal for outstanding performance among female candidates.
Padma Vibhushan Dr Jayant Vishnu Narlikar, a renowned astrophysicist, who was present as the chief guest during the convocation gave her the medals.
“It was really unexpected. I had definitely worked hard but received more than my expectations,” said Monica, while sharing her happiness.
Adding further, Monica said sincerity in studies, dedication and hard work are the guru mantra of success. She also gave credit to her parents and teachers as well. “Besides my hard work, blessings of my parents as well as the guidelines of my teachers pushed me here and I got unexpected rewards,” said Monica.
Monica said BHU has a better atmosphere for studies in com- parison with Jharkhand’s academic institutes. “I have done my schooling from a Dhanbad-based school and later I got admission at Guru Nanak Degree College. However, my academic records are good since my early classes but graduation was the turning point of my academic career as I got excellent teachers there,” said Monica.
