DHANBAD: In a bid to woo voters, BJP national president Rajnath Singh on Friday announced setting up of an AIIMS-like medical institute in Dhanbad besides upgrade of the Indian School of Mines (ISM) as an IIT within shortest possible time if BJP comes to power.

“There would be no privatisation of coalmines for benefit of corporate houses,” Singh said, adding that the underground fires in Jharia would also be taken seriously. He claimed that the action for reopening of Sindri fertilizer also would be on the priority list of BJP. “But all these can be done only when BJP is voted to power and party candidate is made victorious,” Singh said.

Riding on Modi wave, he said, “Your main aim must be voting for BJP candidates so that Narendra Modi becomes the prime minister of India.”

While addressing a public rally at Baniahari ground in Jharia, Singh urged voters, MLA Kunti Singh and her son Sanjeev Singh to ensure that PN Singh wins with a huge margin in Dhanbad. Singh also criticized Congress party and the UPA for its ‘corrupt policies’.

Jharia MLA Kunti Singh, BJP state president Ravindra Rai, former MLA Laxman Swarnakar and other BJP leaders were also present during the election rally.

Later i n Bokaro, Singh claimed that NDA would win more than 50 seats out of the 100 constituencies that went to the polls in the first three phases of the Lok Sabha elections. He said that the current elections were not to form a new government but to make a new India.

Attacking Congress, the BJP president said, “I want to ask Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and the PM Manmohan Singh why prices rise sharply when Congress comes to power. It is due to the wrong polices of the party. The NDA was able to keep inflation under control during its rule between 1998 and 2004.”

Later in the evening, Singh also addressed a public meeting in AJSU-dominated Silli in Ranchi constituency. He asked the voters to vote for BJP Ranchi candidate Ram Tahal Chowdhary and blamed the Congress for lack of development in rural areas of Ranchi.
