65 companies offer jobs to 112 IIM-R students
RANCHI: Director of the Indian I nstitute of Management, Ranchi (IIM-R) BB Chakrabarty while addressing at the convocation ceremony on Friday said that around 65 companies have already offered jobs to 112 out of 145 students this year. However, the placement process is still on and the institute is hopeful of providing good placements to the remaining students.
Around 109 PGDM students, 26 PGDHRM students and 58 PGEXP students were conferred diplomas and medals by IIM-R CMD RC Bhargav in presence of Aroon Purie, chairman of India Today Group, who was also the chief guest.
NNS Manaogana, who stood first in PGDM, bagged the gold medal and Megha Pranesh and Kumar Devashish also bagged gold medals for holding first place in PGDHRM and PGEXP respectively.
While addressing students, Bhargav stressed the requirement of a better infrastructure. He said that despite functioning from a temporary campus in Soochna Bhawan, the students have done well. CMD said that the new campus in Cheri was expected to be complete and ready to shift within three years.
“We have recruited special project managers to ensure fast construction of the new campus,” Bhargav said.
He said that the manufacturing industry was expected to boom in the time to come and the institute would soon start fullfledged courses on manufacturing management and technology.
Meanwhile, talking about the B-school’s achievements, Chakrabarty said that the students had won around 60 domestic awards and two national awards in the last academic session. He said that the institute was planning to arrange foreign learning trips for the faculty members to improve the quality of education.
“We are in talks with foreign institutes for providing exposure to our faculty members and students through exchange programmes,” he said.
