JAMSHEDPUR: Loyola students exhibited their political consciousness during the staging of a short play on the school campus on Friday.

The students spread the message about the importance of voting and the need for sending the best candidates to the Lok Sabha. Students performed the play on the last day of the exchange programme during which two teachers from Oriel High School in Sussex, United Kingdom, representing the British Council, were present.

The students proved that apart from academics, they are also interested in motivating the people in electing the best candidate for a stable and popular government.

“We want a corruption-free and progressive government. Responsible public representatives can form a government and ensure all-round sustainable development without discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and religion. Through voting we can elect the best candidate as our representative. Our students performed the play to spread this message,” a teacher said.

There was also a group discussion between the students and the teachers and a maths fair. A tribal dance show was performed for the visiting teachers too.

The British Council team was satisfied with the visit. One of the members said, “We do not find any weakness here among the students. We appreciate their presentation and the hard work put up by the teachers as well as students. Though English is not their mother tongue, the standard here is very good.”
