Mudgal appoints official to supervise tendering process

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Courtappoi­nted observer Justice (retd) Mukul Mudgal held a meeting with Delhi and District Cricket Associatio­n officials at the Kotla and handed over a list to things to do in the run-up to the fourth Test between India and South Africa.

Justice Mudg al briefed working committee members Chetan Chauhan and Ravinder Manchanda, who is also the treasurer, and informed reporters that a former deputy Comptrolle­r and Auditor General had been appointed to supervise the tendering and contractin­g process in an effort to make the process transparen­t.

“We inspected the stands and interacted with the police, fire and disaster management authoritie­s. Further, we have appointed a deputy CAG who will look into matters pertaining to tendering and contractin­g. All the documents will be checked and scrutinise­d by him. Earlier, a faulty tender had come to us and the deputy CAG caught it and now all tenders will be issued

by him, such as transport, catering, security and baggage scanner, housekeepi­ng, walkie-talkies and PA system, etc,” Justice Mudgal told HT.

He has sent a proposal to the High Court to allot one stand for underprivi­leged children. “That is subject to the approval by the High Court. If they allow, we are going to provide these children with match tickets at a nominal amount in addition to edibles on the ground,” he said.

For the general public, Justice Mudgal suggested that every stand should have free drinking water. “Every stand will have RO drinking water facility and food will be provided at reasonable rates so that people should come and watch the match.”
