September 28, 2015: Mob of locals attack residence of Mohammad Ikhlaq over allegations of slaughtering a cow and storing it’s meat for consumption
September 29: Ikhlaq succumbs to his injuries. His son Danish, 21, survives with a fractured skull. Heavy police force deployed at the village. Six out of total 19 accused arrested.
September 30: UP government orders magisterial enquiry into the case. Compensation granted to the family of deceased.
October 1: Women of village attack media crews. Additional force deployed at the village.
October 3: Aam Adami Party supremo and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal visits Bisada. Media attacked again.
October 4: Rahul Gandhi visits Bisada.
December 24: Charge sheet filed against 18 persons. One was let off as his location was not found in village at the time of the incident.
May 27: First bail in the case granted to a juvenile accused by the Allahabad High Court.
May 31, 2016: Forensic report of Mathura lab confirms the meat, which was allegedly recovered from Ikhlaq’s residence. ‘Belongs to a cow or its progeny,’ the report says
June 6: Villagers hold panchayat defying prohibitory orders to give police an ultimatum of 20 days for registering a case of cow slaughter against Ikhlaq’s kin.
June 26: Hearing on plea seeking FIR against Ikhlaq’s kin deferred to July 6
July 4: Hearing on framing of charges deferred to July 25. Another juvenile accused granted bail by the local court.
July 6: Hearing on plea seeking FIR against Ikhlaq’s kin for slaughtering a cow deferred to July 11
