Non-banking company offices raided, 3 held

RANCHI: The Ranchi Police on Friday raided offices of the DJN group, a non-banking company, in Ranchi and the neighbouri­ng districts. They arrested three persons, including two directors of the company, in connection with the alleged cheating of thousands of people of crores of rupees.

The company allegedly used to take money from people for investment in the share market with a promise to provide a return of 3% per month. However, it stopped giving returns to many of the investors after some time.

The searches were conducted in Ranchi under SP (city) Kaushal Kishore.

They have recovered an Audi car and seized documents and papers related to investment in the raids.

“We are verifying the documents and the bank accounts of the company” Kishore said.

CHHATTISGA­RH POLICE ARREST GIRIDIH CLERIC FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT DHANBAD: A religious teacher at a madrasa in Chhattisga­rh’s Bilaspur has been arrested in Giridih after he was accused of having sex with his minor girl student and endangerin­g her life by trying to abort her pregnancy with drugs. The teacher, Wahid Ansari, was arrested from his native Naitand village in Giridih.

BK Tiwari, a senior police officer from Chhattisga­rh who was camping in Giridih to arrest the man, said: “The police arrested Ansari after the victim’s parents lodged a case with the Sirgiti police station in Bilashpur”.

Giridih deputy superinten­dent of police DK Sharma said when Ansari came to know about her pregnancy, he administer­ed drugs in order to abort the pregnancy, said Sharma. However, when the condition of the victim deteriorat­ed, he left the place.
