4 PLFI members arrested from Khunti, Gumla districts
RANCHI: The police have arrested four members of extremist outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) in Khunti and Gumla districts under Operation Cocoon, on in five districts — Gumla, Simdega, West Singhbhum, Ranchi and Khunti districts — since June 5.
The Khunti police apprehended Ramu Singh and Amar Munda in a raid conducted in a forest near Manahati village on Friday. A country-made rifle, 69 cartridges and 40 pieces of electronic detonators were recovered from them.
Singh and Munda were arrested after the police got a tip-off that an armed PLFI team under area commander Ganpat Bhuiyyan had gathered in the area. Security forces led by ASP (operations) PR Mishra raided the area and arrested the two. Five extremists, including Bhuiyyan, managed to flee.
In another incident, the Gumla police arrested a member and a supporter of PLFI on Friday. SP Gumla said that the raid was conducted after they gleaned information from the technical cell of the police department. PARA TEACHER GOES MISSING FROM KHUNTI
Budhan Hassa Purti, a para teacher who was also a PLFI informer, has gone missing from Khunti district since Thursday. Khunti SP said they suspect PLFI are behind the kidnapping, adding that a search is going on to recover him.
