Bokaro hospital gets CISF security cover
RANCHI: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will take over the security of Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) – a 900bed multi-specialty hospital in Bokaro city – after frequent clashes between doctors and patients were reported from its premises.
BGH is at present protected by home guards. A large number of patients from Bokaro and neighbouring districts are referred to BGH, one the largest hospitals of Steel Authority of India Limited.
BGH doctors welcomed the move to deploy CISF personnel, saying that it would benefit both doctors and patients after BGH director (in-charge) AM Kekre and CISF commandant RC Choudhary met on Monday to launch the new arrangement.
“Bokaro Steel Limited has decided to deploy CISF for strengthening security arrangements. Deployment will be done in a phased manner at strategic locations,” said Bokaro Steel Limited chief of communication officer RK Dhan said.
“A CISF control room, located adjacent to casualty ward, will monitor the hospital security. The step would also help in regulating number of visitors to hospital,” said Dhan.
PK Pandey, in-charge of the Neo natal unit of BGH, said: “Due to increasing number of patients, the BGH doctors are under pressure. There is unrest among patients when they could not get the desired services. Deployment of CISF would increase sense of security among doctors.”
Besides, the BSL management is contemplating to install CCTV cameras.
The development comes days after Bokaro superintendent of police YS Ramesh, in an audit of BGH security, said clashes and alleged molestations of patients in the hospital premises were having an adverse impact on the law and order.
The audit was conducted after relatives of a patient registered a case on August 3 against 6 BGH doctors alleging them of thrashing, using abusive language and molestation. BGH management also registered a counter case against the complainant on August 5.
