Play resumes on fourth day of third India-Windies Test

-

GROS ISLET, ST. LUCIA: Play resumed on the fourth day of the third Test between India and the West Indies on Friday after heavy rains on Thursday washed out the entire day’s game at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

Though the first session was to start 30 minutes early to make up for the loss of a whole day, the officials decided to stick to the schedule time after umpires inspected the ground to check if it was dry and fit to resume play.

In reply to India’s 353 in the first innings, West Indies resumed their first innings under bright sunshine from Wednesday’s score of 107/1 in 47 overs, with opener Kraigg Brathwaite (53) and one-down Darren Bravo (18) at the crease.

According to the revised hours of play, the last session has been extended for bowling eight overs more in addition to the mandatory 90 overs for the day.

FULL STRENGTH SQUAD FOR US TOUR NEW DELHI: Limited-overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will lead a full strength Indian cricket squad for the two-match Twenty20 series against West Indies to be played in USA on August 27 and 28.

The 14-member Indian team will witness the return of as many as 11 regular players who were rested from the tour to Zimbabwe in May earlier this year.

The two matches against the Caribbean side are scheduled to be held on Central Broward Regional Park, Fort Lauderdale.

The notable players who will be making their return to the team are vice-captain Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, the pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav besides the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra.
