RANCHI: Police have registered another FIR against unknown persons in the case of suspicious death of former IPS officer PS Natarajan’s youngest son Avinash Tyagi (32).

Tyagi was found dead in suspicious circumstances at his residence located near a sanatorium under Tupudana police limits in the outskirts of state capital on November 4. Prima facie, suspecting no foul play, police had registered a case of unnatural death.

Tyagi’s family members had said that he was brought in an unconscious state to the house by two people on a bike around 10pm.

The duo had left him near the door and left. The family, in its statement to police said, Tyagi could have been poisoned.

However, post mortem report ascribed the death to “cardio respiratory failure” or heart failure, said Tariq Anwar, officer in-charge of Tupudana police station. He said that no symptom of poisoning was found from the report due to which the FIR registered for unnatural death was not changed.

He said the viscera of the deceased was already preserved and sent to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in the state capital for a comprehensive analysis.

“The FSL report would reveal the complete picture, whether the deceased was poisoned, or died because of drug/alcohol overdose,” Anwar said.

After police received the post mortem report, PS Natarajan had registered a complaint suspecting foul play in the death of his son. “Based on the complaint, we registered a separate case of murder against unknown people,” said Anwar.

A RIMS doctor, who conducted the post mortem said although the ultimate cause of death was failure of heart, it could be a result of poisoning or alcohol/drug overdose.
