Forces gun down JeM mil­i­tant in Pul­wama’s Tral

SRI­NA­GAR:A Pak­istani Jaish-e-Mo­ham­mad (JeM) mil­i­tant was killed in an en­counter with se­cu­rity forces in south Kash­mir’s Pul­wama dis­trict on Fri­day.

The gun­fight started in the morn­ing af­ter se­cu­rity forces cor­doned Dar-Ganiegund area in Tral fol­low­ing tips about pres­ence of mil­i­tants. “As the search op­er­a­tion was go­ing on, ter­ror­ists fired upon the search party. Po­lice re­tal­i­ated, and it led to a gun­fight,” said a po­lice spokesman. The ex­change of fire con­tin­ued till evening.

“One ter­ror­ist was killed and his body was re­trieved from the en­counter site. Arms and am­mu­ni­tion were also re­cov­ered,” the spokesman added. From the ma­te­rial re­cov­ered, it was learnt that the slain man is a Pak­istani, code-named An­war who was af­fil­i­ated with the JeM.

A cop with mi­nor in­juries was taken to hos­pi­tal. He is sta­ble.
