Housing loan fraud detected in Gramin Bank

JAMSHEDPUR: The Kadma branch of Gramin Bank has been swindled off with Rs 52 lakh through housing loan frauds by two persons and a common builder, police said on Wednesday.

The matter came to the fore after branch manager of Gramin Bank, Dhirendra Kumar Singh formally lodged two complaints in Kadma police station (PS) on Tuesday evening.

“We are studying the com- plaints of loan frauds and consulting banking experts. We will take appropriat­e action soon,” Jeetendra Thakur, Kadma PS officer in-charge, said.

Singh has made 11 persons accused including the loanees Vishal Sharma, Trilochan Singh and his wife along with builder Surendra Nath Pandey and guarantors accused in his two complaints.

As per Singh’s complaints, Vishal Sharma and Trilochan Singh had applied for housing loans of Rs 26 lakh each for purchasing flats in under-constructi­on Pan- dey Tower on Ashok Path, Bhatiya Basti and were given loans three years ago. Surendra Nath Pandey was the builder of Pandey Tower where Vishal had applied for buying a flat.

“When loan instalment­s were not deposited, our enquiry found there was no Pandey Tower at the mentioned address in the loan applicatio­ns. On October 23 this year, builder Surendra Nath Pandey informed the bank that he had not sold any flats. The loan of Rs 26 lakh each was granted and paid,” the complaints read.
