Now pay tax against capital gains in Patna
PATNA: Land owners across Bihar who have been served notices by the Income Tax department for not paying tax against capital gains for converting their land to high rise buildings are headed for further trouble. The IT department has assessed the land agreements and has simultaneously started the process of issuing orders, implying the land owners will have to pay hefty tax against their properties.
RANCHI: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Friday held meeting with the central teams that arrived in Jharkhand to assess damages caused by drought in 129 blocks. The CM urged the team members to submit the report at the earliest after inspecting the drought affected areas.
“Timely submission of report would help farmers to get relief on time,” CM told the team members.
Aatish Chandra, the joint secretary of the Union ministry of agriculture cooperation and farmers welfare, who is leading the three central teams, said they received the state memorandum on time and it was in line with the standards of drought manual. “We will submit the report as soon as possible after the assessment in totality,” he told CM.
Das also directed the chief secretary Sudhir Tripathi to carry out advance planning on micro level so that farmers do not face any difficulties in the next crop.
Tripathi said central assistance of Rs 818.98 crores is expected and it would be utilized on farmers for financial help, subsidy, fodder, medicine, water supply and fishery seed farm. Apart from this, drinking water and sanitation, health and water resource departments would carry out separate works for the benefits of farmers.
Three central teams, each comprising three members, visited three districts-Palamu, Koderma and Pakur on Friday and they would visit Godda, Giridih and Garhwa on Saturday, agriculture department officials said.
The teams are scheduled to return to Delhi on Sunday evening. On November 18, the state government, under the Centre’s manual of drought management, notified 93 blocks severely affected and 36 blocks in 18 districts as moderately affected by drought.
