LATEHAR SET TO GET A SECOND KV, FINALLY
LATEHAR: Latehar is set to get another Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) after a delegation from the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Ranchi regional office, gave the green light to the proposed site at Barwadih in the district for setting up a school.
At present, Latehar has one KV with 700 students.
The KVS is an autonomous body under the Union human resource development (HRD) ministry. It runs 1,196 schools across the country, at present.
A second KV at Barwadih has been a longstanding demand, since a large number of railway employees live in the area.
Chatra MP Sunil Kumar Singh had also apprised Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar about the urgent need for a KV at Barwadih, when they met in August this year.
The inspection team included the KVS Ranchi region assistant commissioner Venketshwar Prasad; administrative officer Shashi Kant Sharma; and a KV principal, Ravindra Kumar.
The team expressed satisfaction over the earmarked land. It also approved the ATP building that could be used temporarily for running the school. The team members said they would soon submit a detailed report to the KVS commissioner.
Expressing happiness, Sunil Kumar Singh said he would pursue the matter at highest level to expedite things. “I will meet both HRD minister and KVS commissioner and urge them to take early action,” he said.
