Dilution of the land acquisition act provisions

Mandatory social impact assessment (SIA) study before acquiring land exempted in many cases.

Omits provision of returning land to original owners or legal heirs if it was unutilised for more than five years. Such land would revert to the govt land bank. Hikes maximum limit of acquisition of irrigated multi-cropped land to 2% from 1% of the total land under such category in state.

In case of other agricultural land, maximumn limit hiked to 25% from 5% of the total net sown area in state.
