Subramanium resigns as amicus curiae in BCCI case
NEW DELHI: Former Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramanium has resigned as the amicus curiae in the 2013 IPL betting and fixing case. According to a top source in the know of things, Subramanium, who assisted the special bench in the implementation of the RM Lodha committee reforms on BCCI, resigned last week citing “personal” reasons. Subramanium was appointed in 2016 when Chief Justice TS Thakur was hearing the IPL case filed by the Cricket Association of Bihar. The BCCI now has a new constitution but its adoption remains a work in progress. The full implementation of the new Board constitution is being overseen by the Committee of Administrators. Subramanium’s resignation comes at a time when the Supreme Court is still hearing the BCCI case, especially the functioning and composition of the CoA.
