POLICE DEFUSE IED IN GIRIDIH

DHANBAD: The Giridih police on Monday defused a 10 -kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted under a culvert on D haw at and B haw an and road in Maoist -infested Pirtand block.

The IED was recovered by the joint police party of SAP personnel and Madhuban and Pirtand police stations.

“The joint police party was patrolling on foot when it detected the device that was planted for attacking police party. It was defused after recovery,” said Raout Honhaga, officer-in-charge, Madhuban police station.

The on-foot patrol was initiated following an information that device has been planted by Maoists, said Honhaga.

Operation against Maoists would continue as directed by senior officers, he added.
