JJMP cadres nabbed with arms and ammunition

DALTONGANJ: Palamu police nabbed a veteran criminal and member of Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a Maoist faction, Ravindra Paswan aka DGM Ji and his accomplice Babulal along with a loaded pistol and a stolen bike from Haidernaga­r police station in the intervenin­g night of Tuesday and Wednesday.

Based on the leads provided by them, a special police team unearthed arms, ammunition, and police combat uniform from their hideout from the forest on Wednesday.

Briefing media about this developmen­t, the Palamu range deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Vipul Shukla said, “Ravindra and Babulal had affiliatio­n with the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a Maoists faction. The duo was wanted in many cases of murder, loot, and incidents of Maoists’ violence in Palamu district.”

The police said that more than five cases were registered against Ravindra in Haidernaga­r and Hussainaba­d police stations while two were lodge against Babulal in Haidernaga­r police station. “The duo had hidden arms, ammunition and other items in Karai forest which the special team led by additional superinten­dent of police (ASP) Arun Kumar Singh recovered,” the DIG pointed out. The special team also included Hussainaba­d SDPO Vijay Kumar, CRPF assistant commandant Rupesh Kumar and inspectors and sub inspectors from local police stations. The police recovered four country made rifles, six sets of police combat uniform, JJMP parcha, live ammunition, one country made pistol and one stolen bike.
