CM launches 16 BPO companies
New firms promise 15,500 jobs, 13 MoUs signed at BPO/BPM summit in state capital
RANCHI: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Thursday launched 16 business process outsourcing (BPO) and business process management (BPM) companies to boost employment in the state. According to sources, the companies promised to offer 15,500 direct jobs.
The department of state information technology has also signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with 13 companies including seven BPOs and six start-ups on the occasion.
The chief minister claimed that his government had made 18 new policies, including BPO/ BPM Policy 2016, to make Jharkhand an investment-friendly state. “The results of these policies are now reflecting on ground. In past four years, over 72,000 people got direct employments in different sectors,” Das claimed.

He said government was working on AII (Agriculture, Industry and Information technology sectors) mantra.
Inviting the companies for investment in Jharkhand, Das said cities like Bengaluru have now reached to saturation point in the IT sector. “Jharkhand is emerging in the sector and its climate
is not different from Bengaluru,” he said.
Among the new BPO\BPM companies, iSON BPO private limited, IT-Scient Pvt Ltd, Nimbus Adcom Pvt Ltd, Route Mobile, ITRINOME and Concetrix Daksh Services India Pvt Ltd are the major investors and job providers.
Sharing business experience in Jharkhand, Ravindra Singh Rana, vice-president of Concentrix, said they have started their unit with 500 seaters in Jharkhand nine months back. “Now, it has reached to 1400 seaters. We have planned to employ around 2,000 people in Jharkhand by next year,” he said.
He said, “Jharkhand has business friendly environment, which has helped us to grow faster in the state.”
Paresh Devgaonkar of the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASCOM) said BPM sector was of 35 billion US dollar, which had employed one million people in India. The sector is growing at 7.2%.
“Jharkhand has huge scope to grow in the sector with having great infrastructure, telecom and internet services, good IT policy and disciplined manpower,” he said.
The director general of Software Technology Park of India (STPI), Omkar Rai said an STP was functioning in Ranchi. Four new STPs would soon be started in other cities of the state. The Deoghar STP was ready, while the STPs in Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Dhanbad would soon be started, he said.
